General Info

Tucked along R. Afonso Sanches 39, 2750-282 Cascais, Portugal, Porta Romana Pizzeria is the kind of restaurant you stumble upon and immediately feel comfortable settling into. The atmosphere is simple and relaxed, leaning toward a casual and quiet dining experience rather than anything overly busy or flashy. That calm setting makes it easy to slow down, look through the menu, and enjoy a meal at your own pace.

From the moment I stepped inside, the place felt welcoming. The layout is straightforward, with comfortable seating and attentive table service that keeps everything running smoothly without being intrusive. It’s the sort of restaurant where you can sit back, chat with friends, and let the meal unfold naturally. Dine-in guests are clearly the focus here, and the service style reflects that relaxed, sit-down experience. Paying is easy too, as credit cards are accepted, which adds to the convenience.

Looking at the menu, the classic Italian comfort dishes stand out right away. The Margherita Pizza is a great place to start. It’s simple, familiar, and exactly what you hope for when visiting a pizzeria. The flavors feel balanced and satisfying, making it a reliable option if you want something traditional. Another standout is the Pizza da Casa Muito Boa, a house pizza that lives up to its name. It’s hearty and full of flavor, and it quickly becomes the type of dish you’d recommend after your first bite.

If you’re in the mood for pasta instead, the Massa Carbonara offers a rich and comforting choice from the kitchen. It fits perfectly with the restaurant’s relaxed style-nothing overly complicated, just a well-prepared dish that pairs nicely with the cozy dining environment.

To complement the meal, a fresh Sumo de Laranja is a refreshing addition. The bright citrus flavor works especially well alongside pizza or pasta, keeping the meal light and balanced.

Porta Romana Pizzeria feels like a neighborhood restaurant where the focus stays on good food and a comfortable experience. The quiet atmosphere, dependable table service, and straightforward menu make it easy to see why diners return. Reviews from visitors often highlight that same feeling: a casual place where you can enjoy classic dishes, relax with friends, and take your time exploring the menu in a welcoming Cascais location.

What customers say?

“ Hidden Gem in the busiest restaurant area in Cascais. Great Pizza, must try the Calzone! Great price/quality ratio ”

- Francisco Freire D'Andrade -

“ Cute little hidden restaurant with home style cooking. My wife and I ordered a fettuccine scampi & the Portuguese sausage. The pasta was so good, better than the ones I had in Naples this year. Al dente noodles, with a very creamy sauce, and fresh shrimp. My wife liked the sausages a lot which came with home made fries. Great place! ”

- Darren T -

“ Quiet Italian place in Cascais. I always like to have pizza in reach country I visit and this lovely restaurant did not disappoint. I got one with; ham, mushrooms, shrimp, cheese and tomato sauce. It was a great flavor combination. My partner got the fettuccine Alfredo with mushrooms and chicken. The flavor had a delicious sweetness to it that was quite a pleasant surprise. I got a beer and my total was strong 15 euros. I would highly recommend. ”

- Timothy Leggett -

“ Quiet little restaurant with a homey atmosphere and great food. We were craving something a little different than traditional Portuguese food and found this restaurant near our Airbnb. The service was great and the pizzas were delicious. They were individual size but were still a generous portion (and we ate it all!). ”

- Allie Malmberg -

“ Acceptable but not the best. Freshly made and fresh vegetables in the salad butt a four cheese pizza normally comes with the cheese in four quarters, not sprinkled all over. Atmosphere is local and friendly. ”

- Zoe Harris -

“ Very good food! Fresh, delicious and full with ingredients ! Recommend this place to anyone looking for a calm place to eat, with excellent work quality pizza (or other Italian food, but I prefer pizza). ”

- Dennis -

“ I was in Cascais in 2021 and also in 2020 and fell in love with the city. The pizza and the charming restaurant I can not forget either. Super tasty and especially digestible! Such a lovely family I like to come back! ”

- laura boss -

“ Pizza was ok. A lot of ingredients and fresh made (you may see that the dough is done locally (not frozen)). Nice and friendly service. Quick served, clean, but the restaurant is rather old-fashined. Salad was a little below expectations but with a lot of ham if somebody likes. Garlic bread very salty and oily. Good for quick and relatively cheap lunch (for Cascais it is really not expensive). ”
